The Bun. It comes in different sizes, different looks, but it can always be easy, chic, and for you! No matter whether you have awkward-length or fine or 4c hair, a bun can work for anyone. That’s why I wrote this article: to give you the courage and inspiration to try something you didn’t know you could do! I personally love to play with different styles based on the occasion. Sometimes you need something elegant, sometimes you want trendy, sometimes simple, and sometimes bold! Here are my favorite bun styles that work on a wide range of hair types for a wide range of occasions!
Quick Tip! Stretching your hair before bunning is always a great idea! Old twist-outs, braid-outs, blow-outs, and the like work amazing.
One of my favorite songs right now is “I Shall Not Want” by Audrey Assad. The words are so convicting! Basically, the song is a cry out to God, confessing our sins and saying “Deliver me!”
The way the song describes sinfulness is really what touched my heart...
When I first started studying natural hair, I came upon a LOT of new terms. One thing that shocked me was the vast types of oils for hair! I was totally lost. What's the difference between castor oil and olive oil? Why should I invest in stuff like avocado oil and grapessed oil? And who's ever heard of a jojoba??? Most importantly, which is the best for MY hair? It took a long time for me to figure out these answers. And I'm always learning something new (thanks Pinterest!)
That's why I wrote this article: to help naturals figure out this whole deal with hair and oils. Every oil type featured is listed alphabetically. I tried to address the really popular ones, but if there is an oil you would like featured, let me know! This list will never stop growing! Also, check out my Pinterest board "Natural Hair Oils" to learn even more!
Argan oil- Vitamin E (which creates healthy follicles which causes longer hair), moisture, hair growth, sheen, repairs split ends
Don’t you love it when life gives you a break? No fights with your parents, you're finally passing in school, your friends are all getting along and you just feel good being you. But a friend asked me, “What does my faith mean when my life's so breezy?” Those times when you don't need STUFF from God can make you feel like you don't need HIM anymore. It feels like faith is only for when you're poor, or in bad situations, or can't pass algebra. What does our Christianity mean in the good times? Here are some scriptures that perfectly sum it up.
I LOVE smoothies! I mean LOVE, LOVE, LOVE! What’s not to like?? They’re quick, easy, and chock-full with the nutrients. For the past 3 years, I’ve tried a ton of smoothie recipes, from Peach Pie to Red Cabbage with blueberries (it was terrible; do not try!) Let’s just say a lot has been learned from trial and error. One of my family’s favorite smoothies is actually a Nia original, Watermelon Smoothie. The idea surfaced because my family loves to buy watermelon, but it’s very hard to consistently purchase good ones. They’re often too ripe or bitter, and no one wants to eat it. That’s when my grandma gave me the idea to, instead of throwing the unwanted watermelon away, use it in smoothies. After a few experiments, a recipe was crafted that everyone loved! We love how unique and refreshing it is! I love to make it when I’m in a rush, but still want a filling, healthy start to my day. Here’s the recipe and enjoy!
