Americans see the saying “In God We Trust” on our money constantly. Now, let me tell you about “In You We Trust." “In You We Trust” is an awareness project for the Sex Trafficking of minors, an epidemic that is plaguing our nation. Founded by Jen Rose and Marian Lefeld, it uses art to create a visual of the crime that so few see and so many ignore.
I met Jen Rose and Marian Lefeld through Traffick 911 (to learn more about Traffick911, check out: http://njbnotjustanotherblog.weebly.com/faith/taking-a-stand-against-sex-trafficking and their website: http://www.traffick911.com/) I went to an In You We Trust art exhibit at Richardson College, not really knowing what to expect. As I drew near the display room, I could see a bronze glow emitting from the doorway. Step inside and all you could see was a radiance of gold flooding the room.
The light was coming from 2000 coins, covering every inch of the walls and overflowing onto a stand in the middle of the room. The tokens were huge, adorning the walls like 1 pound clay medallions.
“This is beautiful,” was the first thing that came to my mind. But when I actually examined one of the coins, my paradigm shifted. Etched in the golden surface was a girl with a big hand clenching her little throat. and a look of terror flashing in her eyes. Understanding dawned. This child was a victim of sex-trafficking. I lifted the heavy coin and on the other side was a large crown, representing the brand design sex traffickers use all over Dallas. These 2000 coins represent the minimum of 2000 children estimated to be raped and reduced to paper money in sex slavery yearly in Dallas TX alone.
What a visual. Breathtaking and painful, all at once.
People need to see this. To realize the magnitude of Sex Trafficking and the currency an innocent child is reduced to. Jen and Mariam’s goal is for these coins to travel across the nation, educating the millions of Americans unaware of this crime. I have so much admiration for Jen Rose and Marian Lefeld for their enormous vision and heart. They fueled “In You We Trust” with constant creativity, patience, and sacrifice. They united communities by inviting locals to help make the coins and learn about Sex Trafficking. Tatianna, Marian Lefeld’s teenage daughter, said this project completely consumed her mother. She remembered volunteers streaming into her house throughout the summer, all day on weekends and even on weekdays. Amanda, one of the volunteers for the project stated that making the coins one by one was amazing in itself, but seeing all 2000 spread across the room ... it was startling. It was startling to stare at thousands of innocent faces whose lives were being strangled away and to realize that each coin has a living embodiment.
Sex Trafficking is a breathing, thriving, thirsty monster. Americans exalting freedom should not hide in ignorance or cower in indifference. These children’s silent, choking screams must finally be heard. Thank you Ms. Rose and Ms. Lefeld for being their voice. Reader, it is you we trust to make the next stand.

Psalm 82:4 Rescue the poor and helpless from the grasp of evil men.
Proverbs 21:13 Whoever shuts his ears to the cry of the poor
Will also cry himself and not be heard.
Follow justice and justice alone, so that you may live and possess the land the LORD your God is giving you.
16 He defended the cause of the poor and needy, and so all went well. Is that not what it means to know me?” declares the LORD.
Blessed are they who maintain justice, who constantly do what is right.
