As a Christian, our mission for sharing God’s light is imperative. It is our purpose to know God and to make him known. There are many ways to be a witness of God’s love. Even one kind act is a way to let God touch one person’s heart. Sometimes God puts us in positions to do his will and we don’t even know it.
This is what happened to me one day. One way my church works as a witness is singing hymns for the residents of the nursing home. We do this every two Saturdays in a month. Well, one recent Saturday we were about to do just this. This particular Saturday, I wasn’t feeling good at all. It felt like mucus was running track all up and down my nose and my head felt like cotton had been jammed inside it. Not to mention that I sneezed every five seconds. Basically I had all the symptoms of a pretty bad cold. I did not want to go sing at the nursing home. But my mom made me go so I arrived with a runny nose, series of sneezes, and a phony smile on my face. I was a mess. And I was pretty angry at God for letting me feel so horrible. Gradually my attitude improved and I sought forgiveness from God for all the anger I had against him. After we sing hymns, we go forth to pray for the residents of the nursing home. I went to talk to one patient, an artist, who gave art classes to young people. (Let it be known that I also have a passion for art, yet do not take have classes.) So I went over to pray for him and he looked at me and said,
“ Are you one of my students?”
“ No”, I had replied.
“ Do you want to be a student?” I nodded.
“ Go get your mom.” My mom was in a conversation with another lady. I patiently (not true) waited for her to stop and then dragged her over to the man. They got into a discussion and my mom told him that I loved drawing. He invited all my siblings to his art lessons and gave me the assignment of copying some of my drawings and making them bigger. Afterwards my mom let the lady at the front desk know that they were coming back soon for lessons from one of the patients. Guess what the lady told us….
