My siblings and I are granola ADDICTS!! We eat it with milk, yogurt, fruit or dry; we love it however! But buying granola in the box can be expensive, so we figured, “Hey, let’s figure this out ourselves!" Turns out, granola is super easy and fun to make and has become one of our favorite things to throw together. Here’s how we make it! This recipe is perfect for large families (it usually lasts us 4-7 days.) Skip down to the “Handy Dandy Summary” for the quick instructions.
6 cups of Rolled Oats
1 cup of coconut flakes
1 cup of walnuts (feel free to try some other nuts too!)
½ cup of honey
1 cup of whole wheat flour
1 ½ cups of sunflower seeds
¾ cup of brown sugar
1 tsp of salt
½ cup of water
¾ cup of olive oil
Mix the oats, nuts, sunflower seeds, flour, brown sugar, salt, and coconut flakes in a large bowl. In a separate bowl, combine the olive oil, water, and honey. Combine the contents of both bowls, mixing thoroughly. Voila, you’re half way through! Simply spread the mixture flat onto two baking pan covered with parchment paper. Bake in the oven at 300 degrees F for 10 minutes, and then flip the granola before letting it cook for 10 more minutes. Repeat for another 20 minutes. Remove the oven and let your granola cool. Then, you can dig in!

Tip #1: My siblings and I actually like to snack on slightly burnt granola because it’s crunchy and eat chewier granola in our cereal.
Tip #2: Try your granola with greek and regular vanilla yogurt with strawberries, peaches, or blueberries for breakfast, snack or dessert!
Tip #3: When you’re on the go, simply mix your granola with some almonds, raisins, and dried cranberries for an awesome energy boost!
