School season has officially begun! Half of me is excited to be back with my friends from Classical Conversations, but the other half of me dreads returning to structure, tests, and essays. All my homeschooler readers out there can probably all testify to being forced to do school, even through the summer ... but still y'all. Here in TX, most schools are starting next Monday and my family starts our co-op on this Friday. As I've started looking at back-to-school outfits on Pinterest, I started thinking, "Ummm, what about my hair???"
The first day of school, or co-op, is a huge deal, and everyone knows that how you look on the first will basically be implanted in everyone's minds from that day on and forever shape their impression of you. Basically, it defines your destiny. OK, maybe that's a little intense. But everyone cares about their first impression. As a girl who proudly wears natural hair, I wanted a style that would represent it in the best way. I wanted a style that's cute and fun, but not crazy and that doesn't take me an hour to do! For those who have to go to a school building everyday, you might want a style that will last through the week. Honestly, it took me a while to find looks that fit these criteria and worked for a trendy teenager. However, I eventually did find some great tutorials that I loved! So I'm going to spare you guys all the searching and share some of my favs right here!
In this video, Laura Jaid used a braid-out to achieve A LOT of fun, quick looks. Braid-outs are great 3-4 day hairstyles. Let me know if you'd like some tips or tutorial suggestions on how to achieve this great look perfectly!
Laura Jaid also has some great looks for blown out hair. I loved her scarf braid, so defintely check it out! For tips on how to blow out Natural Hair, check out my other article Heat And Natural Hair: The 411
These styles are a little funkier and more outgoing. I especially love the 3rd and 4th. You could do these looks on a braid-out or twist-out. To check out one of my favorite twist-out tutorials, check out this article: Natural Hairstyles for Pageants: The Diary of the New Pageant Girl Part 3 Again, if you would like an article on braid-outs, comment and let me know!!
These styles are specifically for shorter hair, but can work on many lengths. I love how each of these hairstyles have a personality! Let your natural hair represent how unique you are!
Check out this awesome collab video! These styles also work great for shorter natural hair. The third style is definitely great for you girls with fun, playful personalities. If you would like an article on how to define your curls, please let me know!
Alas, having never had a big chop or anything like that, I never got to enjoy having a TWA (teeny-weeny afro.) Amber Symone shows that it is absolutely possible to have mutiple cute hairstyles with a twa. Again, if you would like some tips on how to define your curls, comment and let me know! Have fun!
Here's another great video for those with even tinier TWAs. I especially love the 4th style.
